It’s planned to launch before April 2022, too
There’s something new on the way from 2K, and it sounds like it’s going to get announced this month. Take-Two Interactive confirmed its subsidiary 2K will be announcing a new franchise, and it’s targeting a launch within the fiscal year.
Take-Two Interactive president Karl Slatoff said during today’s quarterly financial call (via VGC) that later this month, 2K will unveil “details of another exciting new franchise planned for launch during this fiscal year.”
For reference, this means the game will launch sometime between now and March 31, 2022. It appears to be listed as an “immersive core” title, alongside sports games NBA 2K22 and WWE 2K22, as well as Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands from Gearbox Software.
Several other games are listed on Take-Two’s upcoming lineup, including the indie skateboarding game OlliOlli World, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Grand Theft Auto V, and a few more games yet to be announced under the mobile and “new iterations of previously released titles” categories.
Take-Two also confirmed in today’s report that two of its “immersive core” titles were shifting to later in fiscal 2022 than previously planned.
What, exactly, this new franchise might be is anyone’s guess. Although 2K and Take-Two Interactive still have some big plans for their further-out future, I’m interested to see what new game the publisher might be putting out there within the next fiscal year.
