So maybe Americans and the Japanese can’t agree on the merits of vending machines that dispense ladies underwear. But if there’s one thing they can all agree on, it’s that baseball, the PlayStation 2, and the Wii are all really super ultra sweet.
So maybe the release of MLB Power Pros, an Americanized version of the super popular Japanese title Power Pro Baseball, will help yank publisher Take-Two Interactive out of their financial hole. Developed by Konami, MLB Power Pros will retain the big headed, miniature toy-like style of the Japanese title, only this time with recognizable MLB players (of which I will personally recognize zero — what’s a baseballs again?).
The game will feature a number of gameplay modes, including an RPG-like Success Mode in which players take on the role of a college baseball player. This puts players in real-world situations of academics, part-time jobs, and other social situations. No word on whether that will also include sleeping in a dorm room that’s three sizes too small, steroid abuse, and a date rape trial … but I kind of doubt it.
The game hits shelves this Fall.
