The Game Audio Network Guild has an awards show during GDC every year to award the best in game music and audio. I missed the event while celebrating Destructoid’s 4th birthday, but I heard it went well. Today we have the awards from the show for you.
The big winner in sound is Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Good pick. The audio design was stunning, and went a long way towards giving the game its Hollywood movie feel. As far as music goes, Assassin’s Creed II and Uncharted 2 tied for the top award. I feel like Ass Creed II had better music, but what do I know? My true best of the year for music would have gone to Final Fantasy XIII anyway.
My favorite award: Best Original Vocal, which went to the song “Plants vs. Zombies,” from the game of the same name.
I USED TO PLAY FOOOTBAAAALL…
