Garry’s Mod 10 available on Steam

Brace yourself for awkward posing and machinations from the darkest reaches of hell: Garry’s Mod 10 is out today. If you’ve ever wondered how Half-Life 2 comics like Concerned: The Half-Life and Death of Gordon Frohman or unsightly GMan pictorials are created, you probably aren’t familiar with Garry’s Mod, a sandbox modification for the Half-Life 2 Source engine. It is the greatest mod in the history of PC gaming, far and away better than Counterstrike, Natural Selection and virtually every other modification ever created. Why? Because you can make a working automobile out of flaming corpses, that’s why. Garry’s Mod lets you screw around with every inch of Half-Life 2’s assets including models, the physics engine, as well as a load of additional features to help you do — well, whatever the hell you want. Like stacking a mile-high tower of babies and industrial equipment.

New to Garry’s Mod 10 is a completely redesigned and reconstructed user interface, as well as a load of new tools like hydraulics, winches and hoverballs. If you have no idea what the hell I’m talking about, take a look at the trailer on the Steam Garry’s Mod page to get acquainted with the special brand of insanity that it can deliver.

Now, the bad news: this latest version is available only as a purchase through Steam, running just shy of ten bucks. This ain’t all that bad — you can bet that a fair share of your hard-earned dollars will be lining the pockets of Garry and his crew. If anybody deserves your money, it’s a team that makes a whimsical, faerie-like GMan a reality.
