According to NPD figures, Just Dance 2 has now sold more copies in nine months than any other third party game on the Wii ever released. These games sell like hotcakes, especially in Europe where seemingly everyone among the Wii’s target audience has at least one Just Dance game.
President of Ubisoft North America Laurent Detoc is obviously really happy with the news, saying it “solidifies the Just Dance brand as a pop culture phenomenon.”
Together with the first Just Dance and Just Dance Kids, this franchise has sold a total of 14 million units in less than 20 months. Just Dance Summer Party is coming out next week, so you can probably add upwards of a million units to that by the end of August.
I can’t wait for the Wii U versions that use the tablet controller’s touch screen for karaoke lyrics and song selection. You are making those, aren’t you Ubisoft? And using the Just Dance profits to fund things like, oh I don’t know, Beyond Good & Evil 2?
