Capcom released a new trailer at Comic-Con for the upcoming crossover fighting game Street Fighter X Tekken in which four new characters were revealed. Keeping with the supposed tradition up to now, half of the characters are from the Street Fighter series, and the other half are from the Tekken series.
The Tekken characters include Steve and Yoshimitsu. Steve is introduced alongside fellow Tekken fighter Hwoarang, implying their official pairing in the tournament. It’s somewhat fitting as Hwoarang favors kicks for his attacks, while Steve is a fist-only boxer character. Rounding out this showing is Soul Calibur and Tekken staple Yoshimitsu. He’s introduced alone, hopefully indicating that there will be more characters from the Tekken side like there was with the last trailer.
On the Street Fighter side, first we’re introduced to Dhalsim. This is little of a surprise as Dhalsim is a pretty standard Street Fighter representative in the crossover games. He’s pictured alongside Sagat, implying their partnership in the tournament.
The big surprise from the Capcom side though is the announcement of Poison as a fighter. For those who don’t know, Poison is the annoying, flippity transsexual girl enemy from Final Fight. She’s also made cameos in other Street Fighter games, the main one being the manager of Hugo from Street Fighter III. This marks the first time that Poison will enter the ring. She is pictured alone, implying that her partner character is up in the air. While logic would lead you to believe that Hugo would be apt for that position, I personally hope for Juri from Street Fighter IV, as Poison and Juri seem like an amazing team to me.
All together, the Street Fighter X Tekken now has roughly 20 characters announced. The game is slated for a March 2012 release.
