Hideo Kojima talks Silent Hill, fan brains implode

Metal Gear director Hideo Kojima has turned his eccentric eye toward Silent Hill, expressing interest in using his own game’s engine to power the survival horror series. While he did not say he has any plans to be involved in development, the idea of a Kojima-made Silent Hill has gotten heads spinning.

Kojima started thinking about the series after he borrowed the Silent Hill movie from a friend. According to the director, the FOX Engine could heighten the scares, and the “closed room” environments would streamline the visual requirements and equate to a great looking game. He said he’s “envious” of a setting like Silent Hill, due to the smaller scale of the environments and the things it could allow him to do.

He added that he “wished” someone would use the FOX Engine for a game like Silent Hill

Hey, Hideo — don’t just wish it, do it! As a fan of both MGS and Silent Hill, the idea of a maniac like Kojima giving the horror series a turn makes my anus quiver. He certainly couldn’t lower the franchise’s stock in the eyes of fans any further, and I dare say a big name with a fresh take could only help. Kojima should take a stab at Silent Hill. Do it. DO IT!
