German TV channel to broadcast ESL Pro Series start

ZDFkultur, a German digital TV channel, will broadcast the start of the ESL Pro Series on August 20. The season start will take place at gamescom and if the pilot is successful enough, the channel’s administrators will consider continuing their coverage. Games that will be played include: FIFA 2011, Counter-Strike Source, TrackMania Nations Forever and StarCraft II.

This will most certainly make sure videogames as a whole will receive more positive attention. While gamescom is taking place, the German mainstream media are paying a lot of attention to videogames, but unfortunately, a lot of it tends to be negative. It’s also reassuring that the two show hosts, Viola Tensil and Colin Gäbel, come from the German videogame channel Giga and the weekly show PLAY’D. The program’s title will be “FTW – For the Win” which seems quite appropriate, if you ask me.

It seems to me that the situation in Germany is finally starting to loosen up a bit. First, Gears of War 3 will see an official German release and now this? Times change!
