You’ll come across a ton of locked doors early on in your playthrough of MIO: Memories in Orbit. Many of them can only be opened from the other side, but some of them, like the door to the right of the Nexus Overseer, require items like the Silo Access Badge.

The Silo Access Badge opens the door to—yup, you guessed it—the Silo. This area houses a Crystalliser, which turns Nacre Droplets into crystals that can be used to buy Modifiers from Mel and won’t disappear when you die. This makes reaching the Silo (and Haven, the region just past it where you get the glide ability) an early priority on your list of to-dos in your journey. But before you can get there, you’ll have to first go through the trouble of finding the Silo Access Badge.

Silo Access Badge location in MIO: Memories in Orbit

The Silo Access Badge can be found in a part of the map called Halyn’s Boudoir, right above where Mel sets up shop to the right of the elevator on L0: Workshop. For those of you who haven’t yet met Mel, I’ve marked the location of the badge on the map below to help you find it. It’s fairly close to Shii, who maintains the pond just above the Nexus.

To get to the badge, you’ll need to take the elevator to L2: Apartments. Head to the left and follow the path by jumping up on the broken lights and climbing to the floor above. Keep going left, and you’ll reach the icy area called the Dwellings. Now venture all the way to the left, and you’ll find a locked bronze gate with a friendly robot standing outside. Double back slightly and you’ll find a fissure in the floor that will take you down a level.

If you keep following this path, you’ll eventually come to the room to the left of where the elevator stops on L1: The Spine—except it won’t be there, since we left it at the Apartments. Instead, there will be an empty hole in the ground that you’ll have to jump down—but don’t worry; there’s no fall damage in MIO: Memories in Orbit.

When you jump down the elevator shaft, try to position Mio to the right of the tunnel. As soon as the tunnel opens up, jump in the air and move to the right. You’ll land on a ledge with a bed and a workshop in the background. On the floor at your feet will be a shiny object. Pick it up, and you’ll be greeted with a short description for the Silo Access Badge.

Now all that’s left is to take it back to the door by the Nexus Overseer and see what’s on the other side. And luckily for us, we won’t have to travel far to do so. Either jump through the window on the right or jump down to the left and head towards the Nexus.
