I’m sure you’ve heard something by now, but Namco Bandai makes it official with a new press release: Ni no Kuni is coming to the west. The date is a very broad one: 2012. Still, it’s nice to know that this beautiful, highly anticipated title is confirmed for North American release.

This PS3 exclusive RPG was created by Level-5 in cooperation with Studio Ghibli, the makers of My Neighbor TotoroCastle in the Sky and Spirited Away. The game’s musical score comes from one of my favorite composers, Joe Hisaishi, the brilliant mind behind hundreds of films including many of Studio Ghibli’s best.

“We are very honored to be working with the talented Studio Ghibli and Hisaishi-san on this game,” said Akihiro Hino, president and CEO of LEVEL-5 Inc. “It is very exciting for us to bring the best of Japanese anime and video game cultures together, and also to bring it to players in Europe and America.  We hope you will enjoy it.”

Namco Bandai says that Ni no Kuni will be one of their premier titles for 2012.

Thanks for making this happen. I can’t wait!
