Wow! Chun-Li in a panda suit has to be one of the sexiest things I’ve seen in a video game in quite some time. Actually I’m kidding, but I will say Kuma rocking the R. Mika threads — with that unnecessarily peculiar bulge — is frankly, a little disturbing. A recent update to the official Street Fighter X Tekken Japanese website dropped a handful of new screens showing off some amazing character costume swaps as well as a character customization editor for the upcoming tag team fighter.
The character creator is pretty straight forward — allowing the ability to alter the colors of a character’s hair, skin, clothes, and accessories. From the screen on the official website it doesn’t look to be as in-depth as what is typically found in a Tekken game and reminds me more of the palette alterations that were present in some of the Street Fighter Alpha games. Still, being able to make your own unique variants is a nice touch for distinguishing oneself online.
The costume swaps on the other hand seem to raise the most questions. While some characters, such as Julia, are wearing the costumes of announced characters (in her case Chun-Li’s iconic outfit) others, like Heihachi (such a badass Sodom), are dressed in the garbs of fighters not currently in the game.
Whether this is Capcom offering up clues for the next fighters to join the roster or just some further trolling — like the Mega Man X DLC for Zero in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 — remains to be seen. One thing’s for certain, these costumes will be offered as DLC and not included on the disc.
So what does everyone think? Do you have a favorite costume swap and what characters would you like to see make the final cut? Myslef, I’m still hoping R. Mika is more than just Kuma fan service.
