Super Street Fighter 4 art book reveals awesome rejects

Recommended Videos

Udon has collected another crapload of offical Capcom artwork and out it in a book you can buy. It’s a total luxury item, and will make for the perfect gift for the thrifty Street Fighter fan. I’m definitely asking for it for Quanza, or Chanukah, whatever the hell holiday my ethnicity is celebrating this year.

All the artwork in the game looks beautiful, and most of it was stuff I’ve never seen before. My favorite bits are towards the end, in the “rejected ideas” section. There are a lot of rejected character designs there; a male counterpart to C. Viper named Raven, some alternate designs for Juri and Hakan, and a lot more. My favorite was the new, rejected Capeoira fighter named “Brazilio”. I don’t want to give it all away, but I’ll say that if you thought Dee Jay was an unflattering depiction of brown skinned smiling people, you aint seen nothing yet.

That was Brazilio’s first design. The second design is even weirder. It involves a lot of underwear. I’m pretty sure his win quote was something like “My undies? I wanted you to see them”. I really hope Capcom revisits that one someday.

If you want to see some nice, non-Brazilio samples of Street Fighter IV & Super Street Fighter IV Official Complete Works, here you go.
