Clowning around
PAYDAY: The Heist always reminds me of Michael Mann’s brilliant, taut tale of thievery, Heat. The opening of The Dark Knight reminded me of Heat, too; a more somber Point Break, given the creepy clown masks. And now PAYDAY 2 is channeling Heat by way of The Dark Knight in this new teaser, with a lone gunman and his clown mask standing stalwart on a street corner before illegal high jinks ensue. Full circle!
Also, I hope there’s lots more fire so I can constantly ask my co-op partners if they feel the heat around the corner and if they’re willing to walk out on everything in thirty seconds flat. Insufferable.
PAYDAY’s four player co-op capers are great fun. I still enjoy playing on occasion. I just lifted a panic room out of a drug dealer’s drug den over the weekend. I actually haven’t successfully completed all the heists yet, because they can be rather tough. Also I’m bad at games, probably. So are most of the people I play with. At least we’re funny. Now it seems I’ll have to ramp up my illicit murder killings and money stealings because PAYDAY 2 is slated for release this summer on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam.
I can’t wait for a whole new set of extravagant crimes to commit. Especially if they involve zip tying more civilians.
