The Nyko booth at CES is basically a big advertisement for Yo Gabba Gabba!, the children’s show which has captivated children and adults alike. It’s a good license to snag and a big way for the peripheral maker to return to making products based on licenses, which is something they haven’t done since Jurassic Park 3 roamed the earth.
The folks at Nyko had a couple of Yo Gabba Gabba! themed items for us to look over: the “Brobee Hip Pack” carrying case and the “Muno Time” alarm clock and device charger.
The Brobee case is adorable, with a soft, fuzzy exterior and a removable mouth which can be used to make Brobee smile or frown depending on the wearer’s mood. On the inside, there’s an assortment of soft pockets to keep handheld accessories tidy and organized. While I wouldn’t be caught dead in a fanny pack, this is a pretty cute thing that I wouldn’t mind seeing kids tromp about with while still remaining somewhat practical.
Nyko’s other Yo Gabba Gabba! item is significantly more ambitious, and more relevant to gaming. Muno Time is an alarm clock and device charger. Basically a kids’ version of the iPod charging and speaker docks just about everyone was buying a few years ago, it’s capable of keeping more than just your Apple device juiced as it also provides a charge for the entire line of Nintendo DS handhelds. The bright and cheerful box additionally contains 30 full songs from the television show and, perhaps best of all, animated speakers in Muno’s hands which sway in response to the tracks. Utterly charming.
