Some positive news!
It seems like we’ve been hearing nothing but studio closers happening left and right. Well there’s some good news in this field as Namco Bandai is opening up a new studio in Vancouver, Canada. The British Columbia Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training website made the announcement, and the studio is expected to open this June with a focus on developing online social games.
This is good news for the city of Vancouver, as there was quite the exodus of Vancouver-based studios recently lured away to Toronto, Canada instead.
Namco is also set to open up a new studio over in Singapore in June, but no details were given on what this studio’s focus will be.
I know, not the most exciting news but I wanted to share something positive in this aspect amidst the seemingly bleak state of the industry.
