Well, that’s unfortunately backwards
Electronic Arts held an investors’ call today, and one of the talking points was the performance of some of its biggest properties. Unfortunately, some of the information that was divulged was sort of disheartening.
EA appears pleased by the performance of SimCity, stating that sales were “solid,” as it had recently surpassed 1.6 million sold. EA also commented that SimCity was a key driver of direct download growth — a segment that is up 65% from last year.
However, EA is less thrilled by the sales of Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3. These titles “came in below forecast,” but no numbers were given. It’s too bad that the games that actually work are on the hook for underperforming, while the wildly broken one is praised.
