The next game from Minecraft creator Notch, titled 0x10c, has gotten a basic website outlining what it’s going to be about. There’s currently no art or anything of that nature; only the sexy logo shown above. Best of luck pronouncing that name, by the way.
Set in a parallel universe in which the space race never stopped, a bug has caused people to remain in deep sleep until the year 281 474 976 712 644 AD. They’re now waking up to a vastly different universe, one that’s almost destroyed.
So, space battles, “seamlessly landing on planets,” mining, loot, and trading centered around a hard sci-fi backdrop. Yes, please! There’s going to be single-player and multiplayer; for the latter, a monthly fee is expected as they’ll “emulate all computers and physics even when players aren’t logged in.”
Each player will have their own in-game 16-bit CPU “that can be used to control your entire ship, or just to play games on while waiting for a large mining operation to finish.” The possibilities here are going to be staggering, I’m sure. I’ve already seen chatter about viruses and the like.
