In DC Universe Online‘s latest DLC pack, PvP finally gets some much needed attention. The Last Laugh is DCUO‘s first ever PvP DLC pack and adds several new modes and even a new weapon, the shield. Heroes and villains will be able to invade each others safehouses, in four on four battles. Headquarters battles will task players to invade the opposition’s base, The Hall of Doom or the Watchtower, in a 16 player two-part brawl. There’s also all manner of objective based PvP, like bomb disposal or rescue missions. Finally, some light-powered Legends characters are being added to the roster, Kilowog for the heroes, and that shifty bugger Amon Sur for the villains. I have no idea who’d want to play as that arsehole. It’s going to be available from next month.
Although I’m pleased to see one of the weakest aspects of the game get some love, it’s a shame that it comes with a price tag. Legendary players get it for free, of course, but Free and Premium players will have to buy it on PSN or on the website. I have to wonder if there are even enough dedicated PvP players out in DCUO who’ll be particularly interested in this. I suppose that’s the point of adding the new weapon, because I must admit, I’d fancy a shield. Are any of you fine folks still into the game’s PvP?
