Kick some arthropod ass in bizarre PC indie Neo Aquarium

“If I haven’t seen it, it’s new to me!” One of the surprises in my inbox this morning was Neo Aquarium, a game of some sort that is now available on the English-language site for Playism. After the new PC version of La-Mulana introduced many of us to the digital distributor, I had hoped that it’d become the ideal place to find lesser-known Japanese indie titles.

This one, described as a “competitive 3D shooting game based on crustaceans,” certainly fits the bill. I’ll let you watch the video and witness the magic for yourself, but developer Nussoft has some choice words:

“In most video games, human beings shoot lasers and fly through the sky as if it’s nothing, but I asked myself the question: “What if lobsters and crabs had these kinds of powers?” Nature’s strategies sometimes far exceed the creativity of humans.”

I think I’ve successfully managed to make a case for why we need to review this game. So look forward to that in the near future.
