Best of 2013
There weren’t a whole lot of fighting games this year, but the ones that did make the cut were mostly beloved by the community. We finally have a winner, but let’s take a look at all of the hopefuls first.
Here are the nominees for 2013 fighting game of the year.
- Injustice: Gods Among Us
- Killer Instinct
- DiveKick
- AquaPazza: Aquaplus Dream Match
- Tekken Revolution
And the winner is …
Divekick
Congratulations to Adam Heart and Iron Galaxy Studios for making such a big splash in the fighting game community. It’s incredibly tough to really break into the genre, and given the fact that this is an indie, it makes it even tougher.
Many fans enjoyed the easy pick up and play nature of the game, combined with the complexities that lied behind the simple “dive” and “kick” veneer. It’ll be interesting to see where this IP goes in the future.
DiveKick was also our number one voted game for the community portion of the awards. Injustice: Gods Among Us came in second, followed by Killer Instinct.
