Delays send Ubisoft sales down over 30 percent

Third quarter of the 2013 fiscal year sees downed sales

Ubisoft managed to get Asssassin’s Creed: Thar Be Pirates out on about every console for the holiday season, but Watch Dogs is still a few months away, delayed out its prime position to launch with the PS4 and Xbox One.

For the sales quarter ending on December 31 of 2013, sales are down 35.2 percent ($709 million) from the same quarter, 2012 ($1.09 billion). This isn’t a shock to Ubisoft, though. It landed within the company’s own revised sales projection of $628 million to $736 million.

And while digital sales are down 4 percent in the quarter, they’re already up 12 percent on the year. Similarly, sales of older titles (notably Far Cry 3 and Assassin;s Creed 3) are down 21 percent for the quarter, but still up 6 percent on the year.

The Division not being dated like Watch Dogs and The Crew probably implies a delay. But Ubisoft is releasing Child of Light in April and that’s all I really want anyway.
