Higher than expected sales? That calls for shots, bro!
Earlier today, Ubisoft released some details about its earnings in the last financial quarter of 2012. Surprising no one, the publisher revealed Assassin’s Creed III sold a proverbial bucket load: 12 million units across digital and physical retailers, a rise of 70% over the previous installment in the series, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.
What was surprising was Far Cry 3 shifting 4.5 million units which Ubisoft described as “higher than expected.” I have to wonder if the game hadn’t been released in December, would it have sold more? Certainly, the buzz seemed muted until the positive reviews started flooding in.
Ubisoft also reported a big growth in digital distribution, citing Rayman: Jungle Run and Trials Evolution as successes. Just Dance 4 sold 8 million units showing that people still love to shake their thang in front of the TV.
