And you thought the Abacus game was a waste of time

Continuing the trend of silly DS gimmick games, the Japanese company Success is releasing a tracing simulator. That’s right, it is a ‘game’ about tracing. Calling itself Enpitsu de Oku no Hosomichi DS, which translates as The Narrow Way to the Deep North by Pencil, the objective, if you can even call it that, is to trace over the travel story Oku no Hosomichi, presumabely so we can learn Kanji.

In addition to all those lovely travelling tales for you to trace, you’ll get to hear the voice of Japanese actor Tooru Nakamura, as well as get some pictures and background noises as if that somehow makes this a better purchase. To be honest, it’s not very exciting, is it? The least they could do is jazz it up some, maybe call it Tracemaster Z and the Stunning Battle for Pencil City.

This is a Japan only title, so if you want to trace things, you’ll need to get it imported post-haste. Go on, do it today and do it swiftly, my child. Or you could, y’know, just get some bloody tracing paper and a pencil for fifty cents. Perhaps I’m too cynical, though.
