As the Kinect is wrest free from the Xbox One, it will be available for standalone purchase directly from Microsoft.
This is meant to serve as a development tool, not something you should buy for your Xbox One — that’s why they even scrubbed the Xbox logo off. Plus, it’s $200, and you can get a Kinect with an Xbox for $100. Alternatively, you can not get one at all, for zero dollars.
Kinect in the hands of developers will probably yield some more interesting uses of the little spy box, much as the Oculus Rift has yielded neat projects (and amazing fan art).
