The world’s only multi-cart Famicom game!?
The world of Chinese bootleg software is a fascinating one. Sometimes, these wares go beyond mere copies to exhibit a healthy amount of sheer effort. You are no doubt aware of the Famicom demake of Final Fantasy VII, which translates the story of the PS1 classic into 8-bits, yes? Siliconera recently got its hands on a Final Fantasy IV Famicom demake, and my goodness, is it even more impressive!
Though the Chinese FFVII omitted a large number of elements from the original, FFIV sticks far closer to the source, right down to the music. But what makes this demake so unique is that it has been split across multiple carts: Dark, Light, and Final. Since the Famicom is incapable of transferring save data, each cart serves as its own standalone title, with a brief recap of events and party members at a reasonable enough level at the start of each.
Never mind the out-of-place character art on the title screens and packaging cribbed from an assortment of other Final Fantasy adventures.
