First press artwork by Yoshitaka Amano, remastered soundtracks
We’ve just unboxed the Final Fantasy IV Original Soundtrack Remaster Version (and have a review coming in just a week!), but Square Enix has already revealed packaging details and release dates for the highly-anticipated re-issues of the Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI soundtracks. One of the perks they’re touting with the re-releases is a cardboard sleeve adorned with artwork by Yoshitaka Amano for those who pick up first press editions.
You can pre-order both the FFV (August 7) and FFVI (September 4) albums from CD Japan for 3,000 Yen ($30) and 3,300 Yen ($33), respectively, and first press editions are still available.
While Final Fantasy IV really needed the remaster version (each track looped only once with an untimely fade when it was originally released), I’m still trying to figure out how these versions offer more than being simple re-issues of out-of-print soundtracks. Will you be picking either one of them up?
