A point-and-click game with tough moral decisions
In these final days of the IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign for point-and-click title Gods Will Be Watching, Deconstructeam has announced a partnership with Devolver Digital that will result in the publisher matching funds raised “to ensure [the game] reaches its full potential.” The base funding goal has already been more than doubled, so they’re on the right track.
The project started life as a prototype created during game jam Ludum Dare 26, which I only bring up because, more and more, I feel like some of the most conceptually interesting games come from these sleep-deprived events. Unfortunately, they aren’t always fleshed out, but that’s obviously not something we have to worry about here.
According to Devolver, “Gods Will Be Watching is being completely overhauled as Deconstructeam expands on the themes of despair, commitment, and sacrifice…” Don’t expect a feel-good experience, in other words. Do expect a bit of a wait, though: this is releasing on PC and mobile devices in spring 2014.
