Redbox app hitting PS3 with dumb curated playlists

‘Movies with balls’

Redbox is launching a PS3 app. It’s called Redbox Instant by Verizon, which I don’t really want to call it. $8 a month gives you access to Redbox’s streaming selection and “four DVD rental nights at the Redbox kiosk, every month.” You can also purchase or rent new digital releases without a subscription, which is likely the only thing I would ever consider using this for.

Exclusive to the PS3 app is “The Playlist,” a curated set of movies “built specifically with the PlayStation gamer in mind.” It will “feature themes like ‘Stuff Blowing Up,’ ‘Movies With Balls,’ and ‘Beards On Film.'”

I am groaning audibly. Is this what you think of me, Redbox Instant by Verizon? That I’m going to appreciate thumbing through a section called, ‘Movies With Balls,’ or buy into this weird beard fetishization that’s becoming more insufferable than the internet yammering on about bacon? Oh, so hip of you! Please stop.
