No map is more iconic of the Counter-Strike franchise than de_dust, with its multiple paths through its tan and brown desert marketplace. Another classic map is making a comeback in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, but not without some substantial changes to its layout first.

The map, de_cbble, will still put players in a cobblestone castle, but now with new pieces of cover and new routes to bomb sites, both of which alleviate the map’s problem of the destruction targets being too easy to hold. Of course, the map will also get a fresh coat of paint as well.

Dave Johnston, the original level designer behind de_cbble, is pleased with the changes. He admits that he tried to mimic de_dust too closely, and ended up with a map whose scale was completely wrong. He describes this updated version of his old map as looking “utterly amazing.”
