Best of 2013
Downloadable content is here to stay. Rather than bemoan those that constantly nickle and dime us for a new shirt or camo for a gun, let’s celebrate those developers that create new story and content on top of the core experience that makes us want to re-insert that disc.
As a reminder, here are our nominees for best shooter of 2013:
- Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina Assault on Dragon’s Keep
- Saint’s Row IV – Enter the Dominatrix
- The Walking Dead – 400 Days
- BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea Episode One
- Dishonored – The Knife of Dunwall
- XCOM – Enemy Within
- Mass Effect 3 – Citadel
- Civilization V – A Brave New World
- Eve Online – Odyssey
- Assassin’s Creed III: The Tyranny of King Washington (I-III)
And the winner is…
The Walking Dead – 400 Days
All anyone could talk about last year was Telltale’s The Walking Dead. When season one wrapped up, people were shaking with anticipation for season two. Thankfully Telltale created 400 Days to hold us over until the new season would start up.
400 Days was able to quickly absorb us back into the sad and dark world of humans trying to survive the zombie apocalypse without turning into monsters themselves. You played as multiple protagonists, and depending on how things went down you may be seeing their faces again in season 2.
Congrats to Telltale for creating a gripping series, and making us want to feel bad with your games. Jerks.
That was our pick for best downloadable content add-on of 2013. As for our community poll, you all voted for Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina Assault on Dragon’s Keep as your number one add-on content. XCOM: Enemy Within was second, followed by Civilization V: A Brave New World.
