Screens and scans of the upcoming Soul Calibur spin-off for the Wii have flowed freely as of late, but now you can finally get a chance to see it in action. And I do use the term “action” very loosely. I LOVE Soul Calibur 2, and I’ve been a die-hard fan of Soul Edge since it first hit arcades so very long ago
What I have a problem with is that the game looks like nothing more than a generic hack and slash, but unlike Genji 2, it doesn’t even look good enough to put up with the dull gameplay or what is sure to be some infuriatingly underwhelming controls. Yes, Wii functionality was cool in WarioWare, but if Twilight Princess taught hardcore gamers anything it’s that you simply can’t experience the same type of complex game mechanics as you can in Ninja Gaiden or even the Soul Calibur games themselves by vigorously thrusting your Wiimote in all directions.
I hereby dub thee the Mortal Kombat Mythologies of the Soul Calibur world. What a waste…
