‘Framerate is king’
The Halo 5: Guardians campaign won’t have split-screen cooperative play (online co-op is supported), but it will run at 60 frames per second. Here’s a slice, Swords of Sanghelios, in action.
343 Industries has employed a progressive resolution system, “allowing the game to scale resolution dynamically as the experience gets more intense and complex,” according to campaign environment art lead Justin Dinges. That means Halo 5 will be 1080p during “much of the campaign,” but not when the designers “get really crazy with vehicles, visual effects, and combat.”
Personally, the big new multiplayer mode Warzone seems more appealing. I’m reasonably sure people who are into Halo campaigns will have enough fun with this one, though.
