TGS 2007: Echochrome trailer wants to chrome your echo Posted 20 September 2007 by James Stephanie Sterling Recommended VideosThe PlayStation 3 may have cell processors, the Blu-ray, Talladega Nights and swanky hi-def graphics that produce a visual orgy of pretty colors and sparkly explosions, but the public response to Echochrome is proof positive that all the technology and graphical power in a system means very little compared to what the average gamer truly wants — great gameplay. It’s been proven through the ages, when the original PlayStation beat the Dreamcast and when the PS2 remained king against both the Gamecube and the Xbox. People go not where the graphics are, but where the games are. Echochrome promises to deliver that gameplay and makes a point of eschewing pretty graphics in favor of a simplistic, monochrome visual style that still looks fantastic through sheer force of minimalist charm. I expect good things for this optical illusion puzzle game when it comes to the PlayStation Network and PSP.
