Big Halo
It kind of feels like beating a dead horse at this point, but each instance somehow still seems more noteworthy than the last. Nowadays, games are big. Really big. And, apparently when you pack four games into one, the result is tremendously big.
Accompanying Microsoft’s news that Halo: The Master Chief Collection has gone gold is the information that the game will take up 65 GB of hard drive space. It uses the entirety of the 45 GB Blu-Ray disc (which then needs to be installed), and there will be a content update at launch that’s 20 GB.
Microsoft states that it’s not concerned about the rather large size of the update because it’s not willing to cut corners for smaller file sizes. Ultimately, that’s a good thing, but it’s fortunate that Xbox One allows for the use of external hard drive storage. They’ll probably need it sooner than later with this taking up well over one-tenth of the 500 GB HDD.
