I’m an older gamer. You know how I know this? Because when I see things like The Bard’s Tale IV is coming out, my nostalgia glands kick into high gear and I resemble a wired Johnny Depp from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Announced via Twitter during PAX South, Brian Fargo, of InXile Entertainment, said the upcoming single-player PC title will try to modernize the genre from whence Bard’s Tale came.

“This is a special game for me,” Fargo told Game Informer. “It was the first game that really put Interplay on the map, and it just happens that this will fall on the 30th anniversary.”

The game will look to modernize itself while at the same time revisiting the various locations and classes from earlier installments.

As should be expected, The Bard’s Tale IV plans to be a classic dungeon crawler with HUD elements kept to a minimum. Remember when we didn’t have 50 different shiny things all over the screen holding our hands?
