Relive the infamous ‘Mario Party Glove’ and other incidents during the series’ history

I forgot it was recalled in the UK

Mario Party might be accused of producing the same concepts over and over again, but it has a storied and interesting history to it. Most older gamers will likely remember the “glove” incident, where the Nintendo 64 controller was so tough that it damaged player’s hands, forcing Nintendo of America to provide protective gloves and paid $75,000 in legal fees.

One of the most interesting sections is easily the controversy dealing with Mario Party 8. I totally forgot that it was recalled in the UK (and later re-released) as a result of the use of the word “spastic,” which is a slur in that region.

It also seems that the developers are stuck on the “everyone moves as one in a car” mechanic, which is a shame because it sucks.
