Is this the last time we’ll hear about this game?
Waiting to finally see more of Sony’s elusive The Last Guardian? You may be in for some disappointing news in the near future, as one eagle-eyed NeoGAF user discovered Sony has opted not to extend its trademark for The Last Guardian.
According to the official listing that can be found here via the office of patent and trademark in the United States, the trademark has been “abandoned” because “no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued.” It’s important to note, however, Sony also did the same thing with its previous trademark for the same game before.
But wait! Let’s not forget that Sony just went and confirmed that The Last Guardian was still in development as of last August. This “abandonment” could very well mean that Sony’s simply gone with a new name for the game, or they’re planning on something else they haven’t quite yet shared. Whatever the case is, I sure wish they’d do something with the game or the name already. It’s starting to get a little frustrating at this point playing the old “will they or won’t they” game.
