Except for that Ultra-Nightmare one
Doom is two days away from releasing, and it seems like we still know suspiciously little about it. Like, Bethesda has shown bits of the campaign and held multiplayer betas. Still, it all feels like one big question mark.
The recently-leaked Achievements don’t do a whole lot to clear things up. They’re mostly a series of non-specific challenges, and collectibles and upgrades. Some are dedicated to killing certain ways and others — like IDDQD and IDKFA — are throwbacks to Dooms of old. For those not-so-keen on multiplayer and SnapMap, it appears as if it’ll only take a minor commitment to pick those Achievements up (unless reaching level 5 is a significant accomplishment).
The biggest takeaway might be that Doom mostly isn’t looking to punish completionists. There could easily be an Achievement for beating the entire game on Nightmare difficulty, but there isn’t. In fact, Doom aficionados would probably expect it. Instead, any difficulty, even the simplest, earns the “Knee-Deep in the Dead” Achievement. However, there is one for completing “The UAC” on the new Ultra-Nightmare permadeath setting; that sticks out like a sore thumb among a list of Achievements that don’t look too intimidating.
Here’s the full list of Doom‘s Achievements:
