Is this the real life? Is it just fantasy?
If just wandering down the corridor in P.T. was enough to send you screaming from the room, how would you cope if a Lisa-like entity came at you in the hallway of your own house?
Night Terrors — a “highly immersive, photorealistic, binaural” project currently seeking crowdfunding on IndieGoGo — is a new augmented reality horror game with the aim of transforming your everyday environment into an in-game haunted house.
“Think about playing a game where the storyline involves you. Consider a future full of movies you star in, experiences that seem real, and scenarios, in our case, that are freakishly frightening,” states the game’s IndieGoGo page. “This is in your house. This is in your apartment. This is in your environment.”
You have just two tasks: save the girl and survive the night.
With real-time camera and mic analysis, you must wander your own home while the game adds photo-realistic entities to the feed “to create depth data and compute player position giving elements in the game unparalleled realism.”
“We’ve come a long way with the technology, but now need your help in finishing this game,” says the team. “What initially started as an eight month project has turned into a 24 month project. Instead of ‘settling’ and ‘getting something out’, we recognized the strides that we were making in augmented reality, what Night Terrors could be, and decided to proceed in order to make the experience that we knew was possible.”
Right now iPhone 5s and upwards are “guaranteed”, but the team are also looking to expand into Android and Windows phones, too.
At the time of writing, the project has raised $22K of the $70K it’s seeking, with almost a month to go.
Sounds terrifying, right? I CANNOT WAIT.
