Young me would find this summary trailer mind-blowing
It’s starting to dawn on me just how excited I am for Pokémon Sun and Moon. In a word: incredibly.
There’s a lot of new elements to take in for these titles, as evidenced by this latest overview trailer, but for me it always comes back to the creatures themselves, not so much the battle mechanics, customization options, or anything else. With Sun and Moon, I feel like we’re getting the best of both worlds — cool new dudes and also familiar but freaky Alola forms that play up our nostalgia.
For a split second, at around 1:31 in the video, there’s another familiar face. It may look like a long-haired, beach-going Professor Oak living out his days in paradise, but that’s actually his relative.
“Samson Oak does research on the regional variants that have taken root in the Alola region. He’s a cousin of the Professor Oak — the famous authority on Pokémon research in the Kanto region. The two could practically be twins!”
Gosh it feels good to be this into a main-series Pokémon game again.
