Time to cash in on that bounty
You might remember back in May the news that a Smash Bros. player had a bounty put on their head. If anyone could beat Gonzale “Zero” Barrios in a Smash Bros. tournament, they’d be paid $500. At the time, he had won 34 tournaments (not rounds, tournaments) after rising up out of nowhere.
Finally, after a whopping 53 tournaments won and a streak lasting roughly 11 months, Zero has fallen. Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada beat him at the MLG Finals. The final score was 3-2, 3-1.

Zero also took it incredibly well in a series of tweets:
Damn! Can’t win them all. Good job @Liquid_Nairo :O

Hope you guys enjoyed watching! It was a ton of fun! I’m feeling great actually. I tried my best but it wasn’t enough! No shame in that!

Who knows whether that bounty is still valid, but I honestly think everybody involved here won. Nairo for obvious reasons, MLG for having an amazing finals, and Zero for no longer having the pressure of 53 undefeated tournaments looming over him.
Everybody wins! Well, Nairo wins… but everybody’s happy.
