Available on launch day
Knowing that the creators of XCOM: Enemy Unknown‘s Long War mod have been working on new content for the upcoming XCOM 2 launched my anticipation into space. Eurogamer spoke with Firaxis and Long War Studios over the weekend about what type of mods we should expect on launch day next week.
The Long War mod had submachine guns, and the creators figured they’d be a good fit in XCOM 2. Though they don’t do as much damage or have as much ammunition as an assault rifle, using submachines guns allows a soldier to get around faster, and affords him/her a lower detection rate. These will probably help with the new enemy the studio is adding – the Muton Centurion, who has perks that support its allies. Players will also be able to utilize leadership perks that give your chosen soldier new abilities. You can only choose one leader, except for in certain circumstances.
You can select any or all of these mods when you boot up XCOM 2 next week, and they’re built to be balanced with the base game. Eurogamer has a full video talking about these mods, but I’m trying to abstain from watching more. Can’t wait, can’t wait.
