Ubisoft says tactical shooter ‘here to stay’
Speaking on their official blog this weekend, Ubisoft announced that breach-and-clear shooter Rainbow Six Siege has passed the milestone of 20 million registered players, with around 2.3 million users playing each day.
“Our community is growing and so is our ambition to make Siege a shooter that is here to stay,” says Product Director Nicolas Lefebvre. “The next few weeks are very exciting as it marks the culmination of Operation Health.”
“Operation Health” is a three-month maintenance period in which Ubisoft looked at the Siege’s current state-of-play, taking time to work on bug-fixes, balance changes, server tests and the implementation of new features such as the game’s recent loot box system.
The game’s upcoming third season will see the door-kickers relocate to Hong Kong, bringing with it a new map, new weaponry and three new operators. The update will be arrive via a whopping patch drop (15GB for consoles and 42GB for PC) when season three begins, later this month, on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
