It’s still super early, but hey, it’s Bloodstained in action

Nice moves, Miriam

Taking a break from sharing shaders and the like, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night‘s Koji Igarashi has something else for this backer update: footage of the game for our prying eyes! It includes Miriam wielding a katana, kicking, and running around a work-in-progress “grid map” used for testing.

“It’s actually very rare to be able to see this,” says Iga, “but I wanted to share it with my Kickstarter backers.” While it might not look like much, the designers use this type of map to “check the stage size, scrolling connections, figure out where to place enemies, things like that.”

Early and placeholder-filled as this stuff is, it has me in the mood for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, which I know you know Koji Igarashi helped bring to life. The game recently joined the Xbox One’s backward compatibility list, so it’s been top-of-mind for me all week.

Bloodstained is targeting a March 2017 release. Godspeed, Inti Creates and Armature.

March Update: Miriam—and IGA—in Motion [Kickstarter — Thanks, Jonathan]
