I’d be so down for that
From Software’s shift away from the Souls series to something else post-Dark Souls III is probably for the best, but damn do I still really want a remaster of Demon’s Souls to happen. You too?
Beyond better visuals and performance and not needing to dig out my dusty PlayStation 3, a new port would also surely do wonders for the online aspect, something I didn’t get to experience at its fullest. I’ve only done the Old Monk fight against the AI, not a human player, to name one example (and to say nothing of the many current From Software fans who haven’t even touched Demon’s Souls).
If a remaster were to ever happen, though, I’d want it to come through a different studio. Which brings us to a recent remark made by From Software president and Demon’s Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki.
Speaking to GameSpot, Miyazaki said “It seems like there was a misunderstanding in a previous interview in relation to a remake or a remastering of the game, so let me reiterate here. The Dark Souls series is Bandai Namco Entertainment’s IP, and Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne is Sony Interactive Entertainment’s IP. Hence, the decision to do a remake or remastering is under their jurisdiction. For me and for From Software, I don’t think we’ll be involved with their happening, but it could happen through another developer.”
Please, powers that be, make it so.
