Playable at PAX West
The original Hand of Fate first caught my attention when Destructoid’s own Zack Furniss wrote a highly glowing first impression of its sequel. It combined action RPG combat reminiscent of Rocksteady’s Arkham franchise with card-game mechanics in a way that seemed unique and interesting.
With Hand of Fate 2, Defiant Development are working on expanding upon the original game’s central mechanics by improving the card-based gameplay, adding more combat styles including dual-wielding weapons, the addition of two-handed weaponry and adding companion characters into the mix.
The second of such companion characters, Colbjorn, has just been revealed. Colbjorn seems to be a slower, more damaging type of character, wielding two heavy and club-like swords in order to knock enemies back for easier kills.
Hand of Fate 2 is due to be released early 2017 for PC and Xbox One and will be playable at PAX West in booth 6310. Feel free to check out the reveal trailer above.
