Star Wars Battlefront’s next DLC mode is a run on the Death Star

An in-space and on-foot mode called Battle Station

The destruction of the Death Star is well-trodden territory for Star Wars games, but that doesn’t mean I’m tired of doing the iconic trench run. It’s a classic! And it’s where the next Star Wars Battlefront DLC will take us in September with a new mode called Battle Station.

The official blog has the play-by-play for the mode, but I’ll give you the abbreviated version. In the first of three phases, players will clash in space, with the Rebels working to pick off enough TIE fighters for Y-wings to swoop in and weaken a Star Destroyer’s defenses, revealing weak points.

Phase two shifts to inside the Death Star, with “areas inspired by the classic trilogy.” The Rebels have to extract and escort a “priority droid” (who will it be?), and the new hero (Chewbacca) and villain (Bossk) can clash here. Then, in the third and final phase, it’s back to space to blow up the Death Star, with Luke in his Red-Five X-wing and Darth Vader in his TIE Advanced.

I’m curious about the seamlessness (or potential lack thereof) when switching between phases, but regardless, this sounds like a mode Battlefront, as an overall experience, could greatly benefit from.
