It still won’t be a Burnout game, but Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is trying

Critics of previous Gran Turismo games have zeroed-in on the title’s lack of damage modeling as the glaring misstep of Polyphony Digital’s otherwise impeccable racing sim. With the subsequent release of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (those of us in the States will have to wait until April 15th), there’s been chatter that the online portion is in much need of some tweaking, but that the core gameplay is very much intact.

The guys over at CVG broke the news today through an interview with Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi that a major update is slated for later this year, which will remedy those problems, as well as silence the critics mentioned above. In turn, IGN followed up with an interview of their own, and have confirmed what was previously said, and given us a better timeline for the “improvements.”

Looks like we will have to wait until the fall, at the very least. Not exactly what fans have been waiting to hear, but hey… at least it’s coming. The full interview should be debuting on the web tomorrow, and we’ll be sure to keep you gear heads out there in Destructoid-land abreast of the situation. Until then, keep your head up, and find solace in the fact that this supposed “glorified demo” has more content then most full-versioned bona fide racers.
