At a panel this afternoon at PAX West, BioWare announced a firm date for a “VIP demo” for its upcoming story-focused loot shooter Anthem. It should release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 1, 2019.

What exactly is a “VIP demo”? Well for one, BioWare’s Mike Gamble stressed that it’s not an alpha, beta, or a technical test. “The demo is a demo. This is the game.” There will be other opportunities for the public to try it out before the beta during limited technical tests.

To be a VIP, you need to pony up. You can gain entry by either signing up for EA Access (EA’s $30/year subscription service) or by pre-ordering Anthem itself. If you’d rather wait and hear what we think about it, you can be sure we’ll have some thoughts once the demo rolls around.
