Boss character returns as mimic?
During this weekend’s Tokyo Game Show some lucky players got the opportunity to try out the single-player content of Namco Bandai’s Soulcalibur VI, arriving soon on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
According to reports, players who were able to progress past level 20 of the upcoming fighter’s “Soul Chronicle” story mode, received a pop-up notification that they had “unlocked Inferno”. This, as I’m sure fans will be aware, refers to a long-time boss character in the Soulcalibur series, a huge creature of fire and brimstone and the guiding force behind the legendary sword itself.
Further reports from the show also included supposed screenshots of the monster itself, along with word that Inferno is a mimic character, and can take on the moveset of any other character on the Soulcalibur VI roster. Hwang fans should also note that their favourite sword-swinger also turned up briefly in the Soul Chronicle story mode, though there is no confirmation that he is an in-game character yet, only that he appeared in dialogue scenes.
Soulcalibur VI begins its network-testing beta this weekend, ahead of its official release on October 19.
